What do you enjoy most about Tae Kwon Do?
Tae Kwon Do has been such a positive influence in my life that it’s hard to pick just one thing. I think I’d have to I most like how empowering it is. Not only has it made me physically stronger and more confidents, it’s taught me that I can do hard things. The moment when I finally perfect a technique I’ve been struggling with is a thrill I can’t get just anywhere. That resiliency has helped me in all areas of my life.
What do you enjoy most about teaching students?
I enjoy watching our students grow over time, especially our younger students. Some of them start with us at 7 or 8 years old and stay all the way through their high school graduation. It’s fun to see how their technique and attitude develops over time and it’s great to know I’m helping them learn skills that will they will be able to use for their whole lives.
What advice do you have for students who are just starting their martial arts journey?
You get what you give when it comes to Tae Kwon Do. As Instructors we will do anything we can to support your goals, but only you can reach them. When you go home after each class you should know that you gave it your all. Also, don’t be afraid to struggle because that’s where the most reward will come from.
